I'm sorry

Disappointed when someone is called out on something they can't see the value in "I'm sorry".  And then if someone does say they are sorry? they don't hear it.  (no this isn't about anyone in my house!) Heard about something on the Radio this morning, it was a bit off, someone called them on it and out come the excuses. why? can't you just say I'm sorry if what  was said didn't take that  point into consideration. Simple words can mean more.
